Col. Henry Halford's 2000 yard shot
Jan 11th, 2010 at 8:04pm

Purportedly he hit a 6" bulls-eye at 2000 yards.  I'm trying to find documentation on this.   A six inch bulls-eye is impossible to see at 2000 yards (must have been a big white target to be seen at that distance).

The NRA(GB) held matches at 2000 yards in 1865 and 1866. The bull's-eye was 6 foot square not 6 inches. I have some information on this shoot here: The 2000 yard Rifle.

Incidently, the bull's-eye on the current target used in international long range muzzle loading competition at 1000 yards is 24" dia.
