New on the site

Hi all.
I just want to say that I am new on the site. Been shooting with a Ardesa Deerhunter 50cal 22" barrel with red Fox red dot sight for the last few months. Learned a lot but still a LOT to learn.
I do have a Q at this stage. I shoot 320gr Lee reals over 70gr Sanadex pistol grain. Mv is 1350ft/s.
I shoot 50mm. groups 5 shots at 50m. in the morning when I start but later on the groups will open up to +-75mm.
I clean every 5 shots with Butch bore shine. Can it be a dirty barrel? I now want to try the wipe after each shot to see what happen.
Any help is welcome.

I'm not familiar with this rifle or powder. I note however you mention 'pistol grain' and assume it is a fine grade powder. You might find changing to a coarser grained powder and maybe increasing the charge a little due to the slower burn rate helps.

Thank you David.
Yes the pistol grain is finer but my reason for using it is because the Ardessa has a 22" barrel and a faster powder was suggested???? Well it can't hurt to try the rifle grain.
Sanadex is the local bp replacement in South Africa.

Have you considered 'shooter fatigue'? You are getting quite a bit of punishment over that long a session. It is cumulative, thats why the 38-55, then 32-40 became so popular by the schuetzen shooters in the US over the 45-70, etc. They noticed the scores were higher thru the course of fire.

Thanks gcrank1. That is 1 of my things I am looking at and I do agree worth investigating.
I went to the range last week and took my time shooting and talking to friends in between shots. I also cleaned the barrel with 1 clean patch after each shot. Eureka it came together for me!!
Shot 8 shots in a string. 3 next to 1 another. And then 3 in 1 hole(18mm c to c
) and 2 flyers 1 inch of
. In total 60mm group 8 shots at 50m. I think that should do in the feld aiming at a wardhog's boiler room???

That does sound encouraging!
Should bowl over a warthog for sure, too.
Shoot center & have fun.......
