The Grave of William Ellis Metford

W.E.Metford was born on 4 October 1824, in Taunton, Somerset, England. Biographic information can be found in the 'Memoir of William Ellis Metford'.

He died in Redland, Bristol on 14 October 1899, and was buried at Redland Church on 19 October.

He was interred with his first wife, Caroline Eliza, and his name added to the head stone. In 1909 his second wife, Constantina Odella, died and was interred in the same plot. A memorial inscription was added to the back of the headstone.

The monumental inscription reads:

Here Rests
Until The Break Of Day
All That Is Mortal Of
Caroline Eliza,
Daughter Of
George Wallis M.D.
And The Beloved Wife Of
William Ellis Metford,
Who Departed This Life March 2nd 1874
At The Age Of 49.
"Who So Dwelleth Under The Defense Of The
Most High Shall At Abide Under The Shadow
Of The Almighty"
