The North Carolina National Guard ranges at Camp Butner (pictured right) are some of the best in the country. They were the venue for the 4th MLAIC Long Range World Championship in 2003.
Here's your chance to shoot, either breech or muzzle loader, under NRA match conditions at ranges from 300 yards to 1000 yards. Match details and an entry form are available. |

Brian Richards: 1930-2005 Brian joined the MLAGB in 1960 and was a founder member and Chairman of Cumbria Branch, a position that he held for the rest of his life. He represented Great Britain on many occasions including trips to Europe and the USA. He was a fine shot with the shotgun but of late concentrated his efforts on mid and long range rifle shooting winning an individual medal at the Long Range World Championships held at Bisley in September 2005. Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain - Spring 2006 Spring sees the commencement of the mid (200-600 yards) and long (900/1000 yards) range match series for military and target rifles at Bisley. Entry forms are available for down from the MLAGB web site calendar of events. The first match of the season is the National 200 yard Free & Enfield Rifle Championships on 12 March. If you shoot 100m rifle events, then you certainly have all the equipment necessary for the mid-range events. Matches for military rifles, typically Enfield's, are held at ranges out to 600 yards. Small-bore (.451) rifles are used at ranges out to 1000 yards. Even if you are a novice at these disciplines do come along. Many friendly and helpful experienced members who can offer advice and encouragement will welcome you. Note that entry is restricted to MLAGB members. |
