1st USIMLT Long Range Black
Powder

|
This event comprised matches fired at 300, 500, 600, 900 and 1000 yards. It was open to both muzzle and breech loaders with the muzzle loaders firing 10 shots per match, and the cartridge shooters 15 shots per match. We had 13 muzzle loaders and 6 cartridge shooters for a total of 19 competitors. The weather was excellent, the range challenging and the company outstanding. The North Carolina National Guard did everything possible to accommodate us and to make us feel welcome - they did!!!! A hardy congratulations to all shooters and in particular to Lee Shaver, Frank Monikowski, Mon Yee, Richard Christensen, George Harris and James Ruble for their outstanding shooting and great scores. Well done, gentlemen. A special thanks to Ted Greer who not only arranged for the targets, score cards and all the various and sundry items needed to put on a match, but was the Chief Line Officer, as well. Donald (Bucky) Malson, by whose guiding hand the match was created under the auspices of the Muzzle Loaders Association International Committee (MLAIC) and sanctioned by the NRA of America, was Pit Boss, Chief Stats Officer and provided the marvelous match prize medals.
