Long Range World Championships

The Muzzle Loaders Associations International Committee (MLAIC) is the world governing body for international competition. World Championships for muzzle loading firearms have been held since the early seventies, however these were primarily short range events. In 1999 the first MLAIC Long Range Muzzle Loading World Championship was held at Bisley, Surrey, in Great Britain.

MLAIC Events

Individual matches are normally shot at 300, 500, 600, 900 and 1,000 yards. Metric nearest equivalents are used where these distances are not avilable.Course of fire is:

300, 500 and 600yds - 3 sighters and 10 match shots
900 and 1000yds - 5 sighters and 15 match shots

Targets score 5 for a bull with scoring rings down to 1, giving a max score of 50 for the 10 shot matches and 75 for the 15 shot matches. A 'V-bull' (or x- ring) scores '.1' and is used for tie-breaking. Details of target dimensions and scoring plus rules covering firearms can be found on the MLAIC web site.
