Dixie Gun Works Whitworth

Hi all!!!!!!! I have been a smoke pole user for 21 years and have loved every minute of it. So naturally I have always wanted to do the long range shoots. Finding this sight is a god send

. I am glad to see that this form of shooting is still around. Since I have been wanting to get into it I was curious what rifle would you guys recommend. I have been looking at the Dixie Gun Works Whitworth Rifle. Would this one be a good one? I have tried to find the Parker Hale website, but can't find it. I would love to stay with the traditional hexagon rifling. Plus I am a big Civil War nut. Thanks for all the help. Looking forward to talking to you all.

With your Civil War interest the Whitworth is a good choice. Note the while hexagonal bullets are an interesting route to pursue, cylindrical bullets will shoot just as well. If you are looking to shoot in competition then the open sights of the Whitworth will set you at a disadvantage; aperture sight will be needed to match the equipment of others. The Volunteer model is also popular, and has another form of 'traditional rifleling'; Henry. For competition work then the Pedersoli Gibbs is the most popular choice.
