Title: Re: Bury Drill Hall Post by dbm on 04/27/05 at 6:54am You can either copy the image from above or do you require a higher resolution scan? What's the project you refer to and will it be published on the internet? David |

Title: Re: Bury Drill Hall Post by Grey_Fish on 05/19/05 at 12:00am David I've spent the last five years trying to record the drill halls of the Territorial Army 1908 - 1914, as very little has been recorded officially, and the redevelopers move faster than I do. The project will eventually become a web site, but I need to develop[ the 3600 entry database into an accessible format. Hence the request for a scan, because it adds to the history of the premises in this unique military, architectural and social project. All contributors will be acknowledged, as I a so deeply grateful for information. Graeme |

Title: Re: Bury Drill Hall Post by dbm on 05/19/05 at 7:37pm Thanks for the update. Do keep us posted here and I look forward to seeing the reults of your news. BTW do you have any information on the old Bristol Drill Hall built for the volunteers. I recall reading something about it being the largest single span building of its time. David |

Title: Re: Bury Drill Hall Post by Grey_Fish on 05/19/05 at 11:10pm Is that the 'Old' drill hall due for redevelopment in the markets area? I have a couple of pictures of this impressive building, but very little else. Graeme |

Title: Re: Bury Drill Hall Post by dbm on 05/20/05 at 7:54am The original drill hall was elsewhere. It was demolished to make way for building for Bristol University, possibly in the 1920's. I'll see what I have on this building, but probably won't be able to post much for a couple of weeks. I recall it being referred to in a memoir that the City Library hold written by a member of the Bristol Volunteer Engineers. David |
