Hi Gents,

I have just discovered this great web site and am making my debut post on this forum. I am hoping someone can help me with some indentification.

I collect Martinis and long Lees and carbines. Most of these are military versions, but I do have two Lee-Speed, non-military models, as follows:

BSA no. 3 trade pattern carbine, c. 1900.
 LSA Lee-Metford mk. II, c. 1896.

Both have alphanumeric combinations stamped on the buttplate heel strap, as follows:

 BSA carbine: R72.
 LSA MLM II: R3854.

I assume these are rack numbers of some description but if anyone can fill in more details, Id appreciate it.

Thanks,

Coggansfield
