Title: Pettingells improved Cavalry Pistol
Post by A._Roads on 11/05/05 at 8:34am

A collecting acquaintenance of mine has recently acquired an unusual flintlock cavalry pistol marked Pettingells Improved Cavalry Pistol & he says it is also marked Tipping & Lawdon London.

It is peculiar & distinct as it has rather a long barrel while the butt has a curved section of metal that forms an axe head. The idea being it it could be wielded as a battle axe with a decent length handle.

He is hoping that someone can shed a little light on this item, & asked me to post the query as he is rather PC challenged.

Has anyone ever heard of these at all?

Thanks in advance, Adrian.
