Title: Calisher and Terry
Post by Jonathan on 12/06/05 at 7:05pm

Can anyone tell me  where the serial number is located on the Calisher and Terry breech loading military rifle?  Is it the number on the bottom outside face of the trigger guard? This number is also stamped onto part of the loading mechanism.
I would also be grateful to receive  information about William Terry, the date he patented the loading mechanism and the role played in this business by other members of his family.

Many thanks
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,
The serial number is usually on the outside under edge of the trigger guard, it is also usually on the underside of the barrel near the breech, another at the knoxform(?) underside (near the extreme end of the breech) & on the bolt mechanism.  Please see my other response for patent info.   Do you happen to have a rifle or carbine?
Adrian.

To avoid confusion I suggest all further discussion on Calisher & Terry is continued here (http://www.researchpress.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?board=bl_military;action=display;num=1129544047).

Thanks.

David
