Title: Shotgun Combination Tools - Info Wanted Post by paetnyc on 05/18/06 at 7:10pm Here are a couple of high quality breech loading shotgun combination tools. I believe that these are of British manufacture however they are unmarked except for bore size (12 bore/gauge) and assembly numbers. I'm seeking any information, opinions, thoughts, ideas, etc. as to who made these interesting tools. Does anyone recall these being illustrated in books or retailers booklets, etc.? Thanks! Title: Re: Shotgun Combination Tools - Info Wanted Post by Bill_Curtis on 05/18/06 at 9:30pm The various elements of them are quite well known but I have never before seen so many elements combined together in such a manner. I have a gut feeling that they are Belgian or French. Dixon and Hawksley signed most of their work and I do not recall seeing anything quite like these in their catalogues. The tools are predominantly for use with pin-fires. There is something about the stamping of the number 13 which says Continental to me. The recessed sections around the ends of the hinges also point that way in my opinion (for what it is worth). Apart from being able to identify the various functions of each element I can offer no further help. |
