Title: Welcome Back - let's get started again Post by Bill_Curtis on 05/02/07 at 10:51pm Well Done David - the revised sitelooks easy to use. Here is something to start things up - fortunate enough to lay my hands on this beauty a couple of weeks ago. It is a Pattern 1863 Enfield Whitworth in all original unmodified condition with the sole exception of the "S" stamped over the proof mark to denote Sale Out Of Service. It has its original platinum lined nipple with a flash hole measuring 1/20 inch, rather a large size by match rifle or modern thinking standards but as it was military I suppose it could be understood. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v711/whitworth451/WhitE463003.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v711/whitworth451/WhitE463005.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v711/whitworth451/WhitE4631.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v711/whitworth451/WhitE463007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v711/whitworth451/WhitE463006.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v711/whitworth451/WhitE463004.jpg |

Title: Re: Welcome Back - let's get started again Post by A._Roads on 05/03/07 at 4:04am What a beautiful rifle! Thanks for posting that Bill, you must be very pleased to add such a gun, especially one in such crisp condition, to your collection. I haven't seen an Enfield Whitworth for about 10 years and reckon on them as being the Rolls Royce of 19th century British military longarms. Adrian. |
