Bullet Configuration and Wind Allowance
Dec 12th, 2007, 4:45am

Does a bullets nose [ogive] configuration, IE: Postell, Creedmoor, Rigby, etc. have an affect on the amount wind allowance needed at 1,000 yards? From your experience, does any one particular design have an advantage over the others?

Thanks in advance, ... centershot40

IMO, the answers are yes, and yes.  More specifically, the Metford-style bullet seems to be the most efficient for LR use - this more specifically means the best BC in the velocity range with BP, i.e. transonic use.  Last year I used a Metford PP bullet in my last BPCR midrange match - I was not only suprised at its accuracy, but also at the eficiency - the relatively smaller sight adjustments required when comparing with my 'normal' bullet, even with a lower powder charge.
Just my opinion, of course - and worth whatever you paid for it...
