New Neumann tang sight
Feb 9th, 2008, 12:29pm

I just received a new tang sight from Mike Neumann, SA for my Martini match rifle in #2 Musket.  This sight is of the Dr. Goodwin style, but with a bit more 'meat' everywhere, quite stoutly made.  Compared to the Holbrook Dr. Goodwin's, it does seem quite a bit less delicate and of more stable construction - the staff actually is a rectangle with the spindle in the middle.
The nice touch about this sight was that I was able to customize it to my rifle - I requested and got a vernier scale for the windage adjustment, a scale in degrees and minutes for my specific rifle, taking into account sight position and barrel length, a custom-made base (no one makes target sights for Martini's  cry) allowing me to adjust down to 75m and up to 1200 yds without having to raise the front sight.
Upon reception of this sight, I was impressed - this is quality work! All parts milled, no slop in the threads, an ingenious angle positioning system, a perfect finish, nice and readable scale.  I mounted it on my #2 Musket Martini, and with the very 1st target I got a nice 99/100 (MLAIC rules), albeit at 78m - taking into account the very 1st shot that hit paper.  I have to say, I'm impressed - and glad that I purchased the sight.  This really is quality stuff at a avery good QPR!  The man basically delivers custom work rivaling the top US sight manufacturers, at a better price.  At any rate, he the quality of his work succeeded in convincing me...
