Artax Rigby Vertigo

Anyone shooting one of these?

Been thinking about getting one but there dosen't seem to be much info around about them apart from on Artax's site.

They do have a 1-18 twist barrel, or that's what they claim thesedays and I seem to think I have read on a forum someplace that Walther make the barrels?

Huh

I know of one British shooter who has one with a 1:24(?) twist barrel. He has shot exceedingly well at short range.... long range the rifling twist did not perform well.

If you can be sure of getting a faster twist (1:18) I see no reason why the rifle should not perform well, but have no personal experience of it including build quality.

I remember reading an article about it in one of the German magazines.  The title was: "Aussen - hoey!  Innen - phoei...."  IOW, they were less than impressed with interior machining, polishing and fitting.

How long ago did you read it?

Is it any worse than Pedersoli?

They appear to cost more for some reason...I guess you don't always get what you pay for.

That was quite some time ago - before the Pedersoli came on the market.  Still, better not purchase sight unseen.  At least the Ped's do seem to have a guarantee as to decent performance.

I personally think that the Pedersoli Gibbs is numb....almost in the hedge stake class...it works well and has become the industry standard so to speak.  It still has rubber screws and internals and the fit and finish also leave something to be desired but what more can you expect for the price.

I'm looking for something a little lighter for my wife to shoot and wondered if the Artax might be worth considering.  I have seen one at the range and like the look of it, but the guy that has it doesn't really shoot competitively and is just happy to hit the black.

Sad

Hey,

constantly hitting the black of the long range target is excellent shooting Wink

Cheers

GW--Sounds like a put down of the PG? Based on what? Do you know of a better rifle for the money--a more accurate rifle? Based on the number of records held by PG's they must be doing something right. My personal experience with mine and one a friend has, is that they are more accurate than most good BPCR's.
