<I am looking for pictures (digital images) of a British Soldier with his ammo pouches clearly visible. A Soldier armed with a Whitworth rifle is most preferable, but soldiers armed with the standard percussion rifle would also be fine. Were can I get such pictures ?
Besides the pictures I want to ask the following questions:
How does the British soldier, armed with a percussion rifle, carry his ammo?
Did he only carry paper cartridges or did he also have a supply of separate components (bullets, caps, patches, powder...)?
Which pouches were regularly used and on which places of the body of the Soldier were they put ? >

The rifle is the 1863 Enfield-Whitworth.
The paper cartridge was the only form of ammunition carried for the normal infantryman for the smoothbore muskets and for the Mini� Rifles. Brunswick Rifles used a cloth wrapped belted ball carried in the Ball Bag in conjunction with a blank cartridge carried in the Pouch. Baker Riflemen used both paper cartridges and flasks with loose powder when shooting the slightly larger leather balls..
Supplies of components for making cartridges were sometimes issued so that soldiers could be employed in making up cartridges when in Camp but this was not often and more commonly in earlier periods. However soldiers were taught how to make cartridges and the procedures are part of the standard Instructions in Musketry right to the end of the muzzle loading period.
