Does anyone have any information on a gunmaker F. Gates in Derby?  Probably around 1865-75.

Thanks
Jim

The internetgunclub.com has him moving to San Francisco and then in 1878 to Monterey California, where he was in business until around 1900.

Something of a coincidence since I live about 20 miles away from Monterey and have a rifle of his made in Derby.  When I get time I will search city records and see if I can find any reference to him.
