1st Dick Hoff Memorial Black Powder Rifle Match

Below are the results from the first Dick Hoff Memorial Black Powder Rifle Match. We lost one of the greats this year, Dick Hoff. Dick was not only a great shooter but he was also a man you simply couldn’t help but love. We want to thank Dick’s wife, all three daughters, and their families for both attending the Saturday evening picnic but also for presenting the awards on Sunday. Having them there made the event even more special.

In the previous 7 years that we held this match in Cincinnati, Dick won the first one with a cartridge rifle (we have to forgive him, he hadn’t yet learned about how much better it is to shoot a muzzle loader) and he also went on to win 4 of the remaining 6 matches.

I would say that we will all miss him, but I’m not sure we did. Two of Dick’s very best long time friends, Kenn Heismann (muzzle loader) and Bob Boswell (cartridge) won the match. Whether they had any outside help, could be a point if anyone wanted to protest the results. Personally, I don’t think it could have been scripted any better.

I want to thank everyone for coming, particularly those that traveled so far to participate. I also want to thank Hoppy for supplying the British V targets we used, and my wife and Arleen Decker for supplying food and help with the picnic. I want to congratulate Kenn and Bob for their winning performances and also to congratulate everyone on some great shooting, particularly Bob with 47-3V and John Leingang with a 46-2V.

I hope to see all of you there next year for the 2nd Dick Hoff Memorial.
