The United States International Muzzle Loading (USIMLT - www.usimlt.org) National Match is to be held 17-19 April 2015 at Camp Butner, North Carolina, USA, and is for any shooter who wishes to attend. The course of fire is 300, 500, 600 yards (mid-range), 900 and 1,000 yards (long range).
The match is held once a year and anyone who would like to join the USIMLT has to attend this match either as a shooter or a volunteer. This is not mandatory, but if you do join you will be supporting the organization and as a member will be allowed to vote for the Board members, etc. This match is also a qualifying match for those who would like to be considered to be on the US squad to represent the US at the MLAIC World Championship at Camp Butner, 6-12 September 2015.
The spring match is a great time to learn about international shooting. We will be shooting at British V-ring targets and shooting by international rules. There will also be a chance to have your rifle and equipment checked to see if everything meets international standards. The main reason to come is to have a great time, do some shooting, and hang out with a bunch of really nice people who have a passion for this wonderful sport.
The match fee is $55.00 and anyone who wishes can stay in the Quonset hut barracks bunkbed-style for free. Hot showers are available and good restaurants close by. An entry form will be sent out some time in January or February 2015 for the spring match with details, directions to the range, and more information.
If you are not interested in joining the USIMLT nor trying out for the US squad but just want to shoot and compete, you are welcome. Nice awards will be given to the winners.
For the World Championship in September, there will be 10 to 12 countries participating. Each country is allowed to have 16 shooters shooting reproduction rifles and an unlimited number shooting original rifles.
